As the Head of Data Engineering, you will design, build and maintain our data platform. You will be responsible for the core technologies, infrastructure and tooling in data to ensure our products have better, real-time data. 

Your role

Within your role you will create and maintain optimal data pipeline architecture, as well as assembling large, complex data sets that meet functional and non-functional business requirements. Among your responsibilities, you will identify, design and implement internal process improvements – automating manual processes, optimising data delivery and re-designing infrastructure for greater scalability.

Using ‘big data’ technologies, you will build the infrastructure required for optimal extraction, transformation, and loading of data from a wide variety of data sources. You will build analytics tools which utilise the data pipeline to provide actionable insights into customer acquisition, operational efficiency and other key business performance metrics.

Working with stakeholders, you will assist with data-related technical issues and support their data infrastructure needs. You will also create data tools for analytics that assist technology team in building and optimising our product into an innovative industry leader, working with data and developers to strive for greater functionality in our data systems.



The ideal attributes


  • Has 4 years plus years of work experience of analysing and interpreting data as a business intelligence engineer, data engineer, or at a similar capacity
  • Has a keen attention to detail
  • Has excellent verbal and written English
  • Is well organised and able to report on progress concisely
  • Master’s degree in Computer Science or similar
  • Proficient in leveraging cloud based ETL and warehouse tools to create data pipelines
  • Applied experience working with relational databases, with advanced knowledge of SQL or similar
  • Working knowledge of data mining and modelling using languages like Python
  • Advance knowledge to build processes supporting data transformation, data structures, metadata, dependency
  • Working knowledge of message queuing, stream processing and highly scalable ‘big data’ data stores
  • Strong analytic skills related to working with unstructured datasets
