Bangkok is filled with spectacular sights to take in during your business trip, but perhaps none are as sensational as the impressive Bangkok skyline. Having been the site of continuous major development and modernisation in recent years, Bangkok is home to numerous architectural marvels that are fast becoming as synonymous with the city as its ancient temples. Join us as we explore the incredible Bangkok skyscrapers you should visit during your business trip to the Thai capital.

Baiyoke Tower II

The stunning Baiyoke Tower II stands out from the stretching city sprawl

Standing at 309 metres, Baiyoke Tower II is Bangkok’s third tallest building and the tallest hotel in Southeast Asia. Construction on the skyscraper completed in 1997, meaning the tower’s architectural features are relatively simplistic compared with newer structures in the capital. However, being far and away the tallest building in the district of Ratchathewi, the building benefits from uninterrupted views across the city. A visit to the tower’s observation deck is the best way to soak in the Bangkok sunset and can be topped off with a nightcap at the Roof Top Bar – touted as the city’s most altitudinous venue for enjoying an evening tipple.

Empire Tower

Empire Tower, though an office building, features an intriguing and bold design

Located in Bangkok’s Sathon business district, Empire Tower is a striking all-office building. With an entirely mirrored surface and unusual, staggered cuboid design, the tower is symbolic of business in Bangkok and the city’s growing corporate economy. While the building doesn’t feature a glamorous observation deck, it is home to ‘Em Space’. Boasting multiple restaurants and cafes, as well as gyms and shops, Em Space is a great place to meet with corporate clients or colleagues during your stay in the city. While one of the more practical Bangkok skyscrapers, Empire Tower remains an important and aesthetically pleasing component of the corporate Bangkok landscape.

The River

The River skyscraper affords some of the best views of the Chao Phraya River available in the city

Situated on the banks of the Chao Phraya River, The River is an appropriately named 258-metre-tall skyscraper featuring a distinctive iconic design. Consisting of two buildings, The River was constructed in such a way as to ensure both residential structures were slightly offset to allow for optimum river views. The skyscraper was completed in 2011 and as such boasts a contemporary, curved frontage which sets it apart from other towers populating the Bangkok skyline.

King Power Mahanakhon

The spectacular rooftop views from King Power Mahanakhon draw countless visitors throughout the year

One of the tallest skyscrapers in not only Bangkok, but the whole of Thailand, King Power Mahanakhon is a must-see when on business in Bangkok. With a cuboid spiral cut design and a dominating presence over the city, King Power Mahanakhon is emblematic of 21st century Bangkok. A trip to the breath-taking observation deck rooftop, 314 metres above the city streets, is a must. Adrenaline junkies can also try the glass tray experience to look straight through the transparent walkway beneath their feet at the vertiginous drop below.

Magnolias Waterfront Residences

Officially the tallest skyscraper in Thailand, Magnolias Waterfront Residences is actually a set of beautiful residential tower buildings with a regal and glamorous architectural design. With an infinity edge swimming pool looking out onto the river and horizon beyond, it’s no surprise that residences in the opulent buildings are highly sought after. Featuring eccentric Thai-inspired tower mounts and individual residential balconies, these towers don’t have the highly polished glass finish typically associated with skyscrapers, but certainly possess their own majestic aesthetic appeal which complements the ever-developing Bangkok skyline.

T-One Building

The twisted design of the T-One Building is an impressive architectural feat

Another Bangkok office building, another idiosyncratic design. The T-One Building is the most modern skyscraper on our list, having finished construction in 2019; its appearance is in keeping with the increasingly inventive skyscraper designs seen across the world in recent years. Emulating the spiral cuboid design of the King Power Mahanakhon, the T-One Building features skewed, twisting edges, giving the appearance of a spiralling ascent to its penthouse floors. Located in the city’s business district, there are many reasons to visit this, one the most visually arresting Bangkok skyscrapers. The structure is filled with state-of-the-art workspaces, including hot-desks, private offices, and break-out, collaborative areas. So if a conference is on the cards during your stay in Bangkok, the excellent corporate meeting spaces available in the T-One Building may well be just what you need.
