A new survey carried out by Venues Event Management shows that fitness facilities are becoming increasingly important for business travellers. 73% think that it is ‘very’ important to be able to exercise when away on business, while the remaining 27% said it was ‘fairly’ important.

Although travelling on business certainly has its perks, traipsing around from one hotel to another, jet lagged, lonely, and unable to speak or understand the language around you can get tiresome and tedious to say the least.

There are many things you can do to make your travelling easier. By staying in a serviced apartment rather than a hotel, you can enjoy home comforts such as eating your favourite three course meal (or eating pizza in your tracksuit bottoms), or having a living area and a spare room for your family to come and stay with you, which can make you feel a lot more at ease during your stay.

Another way to make yourself feel at home while away on business is to keep yourself busy with exercise, which is also said to improve your performance in the workplace. Anita Lowe, CEO of Venues Event Management, said: “The recognition of the psychological and physical contribution of endorphin-including workouts to executive staying power is driving business traveller preferences for hotels with exercise facilities.”

The survey shows that the option of exercising while away on business is a common request among business travellers, and as the traveller inevitably influences the booking decision, accommodation providers who do not have fitness facilities could limit the interest they get.

Almost a third of the apartments on our website have fitness facilities, and this number is quickly increasing. We realise that having access to these facilities can benefit business travellers and we therefore strive to be able to offer apartments with fitness centres to our clients if this is something they require.

One of the things we pride ourselves on most at SilverDoor is our attention to detail. We are in the process of changing the way we display some facilities, and will either show ‘fitness centre’ or ‘full gym’ under the facilities tab rather than just ‘fitness centre’, to make it clearer to our clients what they will be getting. This will allow our clients to make a more informed decision about which apartment they wish to book.

Some of the apartments listed on our website will offer free passes to local branded fitness centres, which provide an excellent standard of facilities. Those who use them appreciate the familiarity and reliability of the respected brands.

As well as having fitness centres, many of our apartments are located in central areas of cities all around the world, offering a number of different things to see and do right on your doorstep, so you will never be short of entertainment.
