Tried and Tested: Staybridge Suites Newcastle

Tried and Tested: Staybridge Suites Newcastle
26th January 2023

Alongside Head Partner Account Manager, Kurtis Murphy, I recently had the distinct pleasure of staying at Staybridge Suites’ Newcastle location.  There's no substitute for experiencing our properties first-hand and spending time with our valued partners. Discover what I learnt from my night stay below.

A proud history...

Cycas is a pan-European hospitality management company with a lot of properties under its belt... one being Staybridge Suites, with whom SilverDoor has had a long-standing, successful relationship for more than five years.

Opening its doors in 2009, Staybridge Suites Newcastle remains a popular extended-stay serviced accommodation provider with glowing 5-star reviews, located close to the business district and only a short stroll away from the waterfront of the Quayside. What could be better?

Here we are at the lobby of Staybridge Suites
Catching up with our friends Staybridge Suites in their lobby!

An apartment with a view…

The apartments in Staybridge Suites Newcastle are a mixture of Studios, Deluxe Studios and One-bedroom apartments. They all comprise a well-furnished living space, kitchenettes with dishwashers, and a spacious bathroom.

The apartments all have a homely feel to them, making them perfect for those working in the area. I was lucky enough to stay on their top floor and had an impressive view across the city. All the apartments are spacious enough for long or short stays, even their studio apartments have plenty of space! (Around 30 square metres, meanwhile, the average hotel room size in the UK is only 6 square metres

… Flexible autonomy…

There is a 24-hour reception on site, gym facilities, and a communal laundry room. The property has a pantry in the reception area to purchase snacks, drinks and more of the same plant-based toiletries that are provided upon arrival in your apartment.

Staybridge Suites Newcastle is the perfect example of serviced accommodation with all the additional benefits typically associated with hotels. This allows clients to feel safe and secure while still providing the autonomy, control and lifestyle flexibility afforded by a serviced apartment.

A room with a view and some great features
Newcastle in all it's glory...

… And surprising subtle additions…

They have weekly social evenings put on for guests, where wine and nibbles are supplied. Interaction and socialising are not compulsory, but it is a nice touch in breaking up the business day.

In the area named The Hub, there is also the added luxury of a complimentary breakfast each morning, where you can choose from cereals, cooked breakfast items, pastries, fruit, and muffins... I may have treated myself to a couple of chocolate muffins to fuel me for a day of meetings!  While at the Staybridge Suites in Newcastle, corporate guests can utilise meeting space situated on the ground floor. Termed the Den, a section of the room can be partitioned off to create a generously sized board room. It is perfect for business brainstorming and can be booked by the hour or day, anytime.

As well as this, guests can make the most of 24 - hour complimentary tea, coffee, and hot chocolates – reinforcing the idea that this location has all the perks of a traditional hotel, but with the freedom of serviced accommodation.

Parking is typically something of a challenge within Newcastle city centre, but this Staybridge property has a limited number of secure parking spaces on site for a small daily charge.

... Goodbye to Newcastle… for now.

This serviced apartment is a short 14-minute drive from Newcastle International Airport, the North East's largest airport recently celebrating its four millionth passenger to pass through its door. Gaining a reputation as one of the fastest-growing cities in the UK, it is no surprise that Newcastle has become a popular business destination for corporate travel. I am very excited to return to the capital North East again soon.
