All you need to know about Shenzhen

Situated very near to Hong Kong, Shenzhen is one of the major cities in Southern China and an important financial area within China. The city is named a Special Economic Zone within the People’s Republic of China, which grants the zone its own specialised policies, influencing flexibility with economic management and governmental measures.

Shenzhen has its own busy port, as well as a thriving stock exchange. The city is also home to many high tech companies. There are multiple industrial parks which encourage the establishment of electronics and manufacturing companies. Industrial zones include the Shenzhen Hi-Tech Industrial Park and the Shenzhen Software Park. Futian is one of the most important business centres in Shenzhen which business travellers frequently find themselves in. The Concert Hall and Development Bank are both located here.

Shenzhen is served well by the Shenzhen Railway Station, which offers multiple trains to Guangzhou as well as long-distance trains to BeijingShanghai and other destinations. Trains to Hong Kong are also available to the Lo Wu and Lok Ma Chau border crossings and take approximately 45 minutes. Shenzhen does have its own metro system, which carries 2 lines and stops in Futian. Shenzhen Bao'an International Airport is a short drive from the city centre; the airport supports flights to many other parts of China and as well as other international Asian destinations.
