All you need to know about Whitechapel, London

Whitechapel is a vibrant district in East London. It has a great multicultural community and is home to The Royal London Hospital, Whitechapel Market, and East London Mosque, which is one of the largest mosques in Europe. Serviced apartments in Whitechapel are ideal for those working in banking and the financial districts as the City and Canary Wharf are only a short commute away.

Whitechapel has a dark history and was once a place of poverty and slums. The infamous ‘Jack the Ripper’ committed several disturbing murders in the area in the 1800’s and there are still some popular walking tours you can attend to hear all the gruesome tales that occurred.

Thankfully today Whitechapel is a much safer and pleasant area to stay when visiting London. There are a great selection of restaurants and curry houses in the vicinity, as well as plenty of grocery stores, and Whitechapel market, which is perfect for picking up fresh produce to cook in your serviced apartment. You’ll find a range of traditional East end pubs in the area, along with some more modern cocktail bars. Whitechapel Gallery is worth visiting and has a great exhibition of contemporary art and regularly hosts indie film screenings.
