Transport in Shanghai

Shanghai is served by two major international airports; Pudong International Airport and Hongqiao Airport. The former is the main hub for international flights, with Hongqiao the main airport for domestic activity. The Maglev train runs between Pudong Airport and Shanghai, reaching the city centre in only 8 minutes. Both airports are on the metro line that links through to downtown Shanghai. When travelling in Shanghai, by far the easiest and most effective method is to travel by metro. Although buses and taxis are also an option, the metro is the best way to avoid traffic and navigate Shanghai. 

Weather in Shanghai

The Shanghai climate is classified as humid subtropical, with hot and humid summers and cool to mild winters. In summer, the city is exposed to thunderstorms with the threat of typhoons also present. The most pleasant time to visit Shanghai is during spring/autumn, when the climate is less extreme.

Cuisine in Shanghai

Shanghai cuisine is derived from two contrasting styles of cooking, Benbang Cuisine and Haipai Cuisine. Both styles have much in common, with both utilising steaming, braising, stir-frying, marinating and roasting. Benbang Cuisine is the traditional family style of cooking in Shanghai provinces, with Haipai Cuisine developed in the latter stages of the Qing Dynasty. Both offer excellent dishes!
