Cape Town is the capital of South Africa and is located on the southern tip of the continent; the city is home to the National Parliament and government offices. Some well-known landmarks in Cape Town include Table Mountain and Cape Point.
The centre of the city is at the north end of the Cape Penninsula and Table Mountain forms the scenic backdrop to the city. Many of the suburbs are on the Cape Flats which is a large flat area of the city.
The Victoria & Alfred Waterfront is one of the city’s most popular shopping area and is home to several hundred shops and an aquarium. The port is fully functional and ships regularly enter and exit the dock. Ferries depart from the Waterfront from the Nelson Mandela Gateway to Robben Island.
