All you need to know about Dunfermline

Dunfermline is a town in Fife with a population of 50,380 inhabitants. It’s the 10th largest town in Scotland and offers culture and history, along with great places to eat and shop.

Dunfermline’s employment market is a mixture wholesale and retail; health and social work; and IT. Other main industries include finance, manufacturing and food.

Local landmarks include Dunfermline Abbey, Abbot Hall and Carnegie Hall: a performing arts centre offering comedy, dance and live music.  A walk around Pittencrieff Park is a must, particularly during summer months. Other points of interest range from the Scottish Vintage Bus Museum to the Alhambra Theatre.

Dunfermline is where many Fife residents go to shop - their main port of call being the Kingsgate Shopping Centre. Also popular is the Fife Leisure Park, which boasts a cinema, health club and bowling alley and lots of restaurants.

The A907 road runs through Dunfermline and connects to places like Perth, Edinburgh and Kirkcaldy. The town has two main train stations – Dunfermline Town and Dunfermline Margaret - both of which are close to the town centre.

The closest airport is Edinburgh, which is 13 miles from Dunfermline. The town is also served by Fife and Cumbernauld airports.
