Things to do in Luton 

From 1708, The Crawley family owned the Stockwood Park estate and House, but after vacating it in 1939, the house was demolished, and the council took over the area. Stockwood Park is a 100-hectare green space in Luton. Since being owned by the council, the park has gained many new amenities including: Stockwood Park Discovery featuring a programme of interactive exhibitions, the Golf Centre where you can enjoy a short game or buy membership if staying on a longer-term stay and the café area where guests can enjoy a drink and watch the world go around.

Luton International Carnival happens every May on the streets of Luton, produced by the UK Centre for Carnival Art which opened in 2009. It’s the UK’s biggest one day carnival and the day is filled with carnival bands, food and drink vendors, and aims to represent carnivals from all around the world. With incredible colourful costumes and dances, the carnival is a must visit.  

For over 200 years Luton was the main centre of ladies’ hat making and has since been famous as a hat making town. Luton's football team is even nicknamed “the Hatters”, after the town's history with hats.
