Portsmouth is a historic port city on the south coast of England in Hampshire. Portsmouth is the UK's only island city and it is one of the most densely populated places in Britain. It has been a significant Royal Navy base for centuries and Portsmouth Historic Dockyard is home to many famous ships including HMS Victory, the Mary Rose and HMS Warrior.

The busy commercial and car ferry port serves destinations on the continent including Bilbao, Caen, St Malo, Le Havre and the Channel Islands as well as more local destinations such as the Isle of Wight, Gosport and Hayling Island. The retail core is served by the pedestrianised Commercial Road, Cascades Shopping Centre and the recently redeveloped Gunwharf Quays, with a wide range of general and specialist shops. Portsmouth also boasts a selection of cafes, bars and restaurants.

With access to the A3 and the M27, London is only an hour and a half away. The nearest airport is in Southampton which is a 30-minute drive away on the M27 and London Gatwick is approximately 75 minutes away.
