Staines-upon-Thames is a suburban development within the bounds of the M25 motorway, just south of Heathrow Airport. Today, it is an ideal commuter spot due to its easy connections to both London and Heathrow. This factor has attracted major offices for companies such as BUPA and LogicaCMG. The city is home to the national headquarters of Siemens Building Automation Division and the Samsung Electronics Research Institute.
The compact town centre is focused on the pedestrianised High Street which hosts various markets on Wednesdays and Saturdays. These markets are known to be some of the busiest in the county. Nearby is the 500 acre Thorpe Park featuring several record-breaking roller coasters and thrill rides. It is open from mid-March to November. Staines station serves Waterloo, Weybridge, and Reading.
