All you need to know about Fort Lauderdale

Fort Lauderdale is a city in Broward County in the state of Florida, on the Atlantic coast. The city is sometimes referred to as the ‘Venice of America’ due to its extensive canal system and popular yachting centre. Fort Lauderdale has a tropical rainforest climate with little seasonal variation in temperature: average monthly temperatures are always above 18 degrees Celsius.

Fort Lauderdale’s economy is heavily reliant on tourism with around 10 million visitors a year. The city’s convention centre attracts around 30% of this figure. The city has become a manufacturing and maintenance centre for yachts as well as having notable companies in the area including Spirit Airline and DHL Express.

Amtrak provides passenger train services to other cities on the Atlantic coast, while Tri-Rail provides a commuter service between Palm Beach County, Broward County and Miami-Dade County. Nearby Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport is the fastest-growing major airport in the US.
