All you need to know about Tampa

Tampa is a city located on the west coast of Florida with a population of around 346,000. The city’s economy is based around a variety of sectors including banking, professional sport, tourism and telecommunications. The Fortune 1000 companies TECO Energy, WellCare and Raymond James Financial all have headquarters in Tampa. The city’s port also plays a major role within the economy and is one of the largest in the United States.

The professional sports played in Tampa attract a range of tourists. Tampa is represented in three professional sports leagues including; the NFL with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, the NHL with the Tampa Bay Lightning and the Tampa Bay Rays competing in Major League Baseball.

The main airport in the city is Tampa International Airport which provides services to destinations including the UK, the Caribbean, Canada and Mexico. In 2013 the airport saw around 16,920,000 passengers. Travelling around the city is easy with a frequent service of both public buses and a streetcar line. Tampa Union Station also runs a public rail service to locations outside of Tampa including Orlando, Lakeland and St. Petersburg.
