Bayswater Road Artists

Many think of Bayswater simply as a gateway to areas such as Paddington, Notting Hill and Hyde Park – however, there’s much more to the modest district than one may think.

Sandwiched between Hyde Park and Paddington, Bayswater is an elegant neighbourhood that is comprised of leafy residential streets and stately homes. Queensway is dotted with local eateries, bars and high-street stores, while the nearby Hyde Park is full of things to see and do.

Home to a culturally diverse local population, it comes as no surprise that the area benefits from a thriving arts scene. Every Sunday, Bayswater Road – one of west London’s busiest thoroughfares – plays host to a creative commingling of artists and craftsmen.

A weekly tradition that dates back to the 1960s, artists are provided with a opportunity to sell their art to tourists and locals alike in a central location. Stroll along the road and see what takes your fancy!

Facts About The Bayswater Road Artists...

  • This tradition can be traced back to the 1950s when artists could exhibit work at the annual Embankment Show. However, local artists wanted something even more regular and so the Bayswater Road tradition was born.
  • It is thought that over 150 artists display their work every Sunday.
