Placement programme

SilverDoor is now in its 3rd year of its burgeoning placement programme. So far it has been a great success and on 2nd August we will welcome back our first former placement student as a full-time employee when Daniel Godsall returns to work as a Corporate Account Manager.SilverDoor’s Sales Director Chris Gee said:

“When we first came up with the scheme, the plan was always that some of the placement students would come back to work for us once they finished their final year, so it’s nice to see this come to fruition and I’m sure others will follow. Daniel was originally taken on as Sales Assistant, but he was so keen to pick up the phone and loved helping clients so much that it was clear that he was a natural as an account manager. This is one of the key reasons why the placement program has been so successful at SilverDoor -you take on a bunch of bright, enthusiastic and relatively inexperienced students, and before you know it, you find that they each have their own areas of strength, so it’s a unique way of finding your star performers of the future.”

Daniel Godsall said: “My placement helped me to establish myself within the serviced apartment industry. My role as Sales Assistant meant me helping existing account managers with their clients’ requirements and distributing enquiries amongst the sales team. I loved my job because I could liaise with different people every day and help both my colleagues and well-established clients on a daily basis.

When I started at SilverDoor, I learnt a lot of new skills. I’d worked Saturdays as an estate agent since I was 16 so I thought I knew it all but I soon realised I didn’t! My manager at SilverDoor spent a lot of time with me on business language skills, the importance of listening, phone etiquette and most importantly to talk to clients the way I would like to be treated. I loved learning the job inside out, to the point where I was probably the only one out of my friends who looked forward to going to work in the morning.

I’m so excited about returning to SilverDoor, getting back on the phone and ensuring every client that chooses SilverDoor as their serviced apartment provider receives the highest levels of service.”

SilverDoor’s latest intake of 5 placement students joined us on 12th July. Four are from Bournemouth University and one is from Bath University. They are already making a significant contribution to the business and helping us to continue to improve our service levels, new media and marketing output, and are bringing fresh ideas to the table. This last point is the real driving force behind the program because we need to keep ahead of the ever-changing forms of communication and new media marketing techniques. In the last year, Flickr, Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn and YouTube have become increasingly relevant to the business world.
