All you need to know about Buenos Aires

Buenos Aires is the capital city of Argentina situated on the Rio de la Plata across from neighbouring Uruguay. Transport in Buenos Aires

Buenos Aires is served by two airports; Ezeiza International Airport and Aeroparque Internacional Jorge Newbery. The former is the main point of arrival for international travellers, with the latter predominantly serving domestic flights and connections from neighbouring South American countries. Ezeiza International Airport is situated over 30km to the south of the Argentine capital, with the quickest and most efficient method of transport to Buenos Aires being by private transfer or taxi. Jorge Newberry Airport is much closer to the city centre, with bus or taxi travel both viable methods. In Buenos Aires, the Subte underground network is by far the easiest way to travel around the city. The network covers most districts of the capital, is easy to navigate and Subte cards can be purchased at most stations. Buses or ‘collectivos’ as they are known locally are another option, as is taxi travel.

Weather in Buenos Aires

Buenos Aires has a humid subtropical climate, characterised by hot and humid summers and cool winters. The weather is variable due to the Pampero and Sudestada winds which pass through the region. In summer, Buenos Aires is enjoyable, with the city prone to experiencing the occasional heat wave. Spring and autumn bring changing weather conditions, with mild winters bringing chilly nights.
