12th April 2024

Paris is a cultural metropolis rich in history, architecture, cuisine and fashion. It’s one of the most visited cities in Europe, with more than 19.1 million international visitors in 2022, and an important destination for business travellers.

Looking for the best areas to stay on your next business trip to Paris? Look no further, our Paris guide has the low-down on the best Paris arrondissements: where to stay, where to dine and what to explore.

An arrondissement is essentially a district, much like a London borough or a New York neighbourhood. There are a total of 20 arrondissements in the city of Paris, numbered in a clockwise spiral, starting in the city centre and moving outwards.

1st and 2nd Arrondissement – The Heart of Paris

The 1st arrondissement is the oldest part of Paris, home to the Louvre, Jardins des Tuileries and the Place de la Concorde. This neighbourhood is ideal for those who wish to be within a short walking distance to the top Paris sights, especially if this is your first visit to Paris. On the northern banks of the river Seine, this area of Paris is easily explored on foot with most sites just minutes away from each other.

The 2nd arrondissement sits just above the 1st, offering a lively neighbourhood full of shops and eateries. Considered one of the smaller arrondissements but equally as vibrant, this area of Paris is home to Rue Montorgueil, a pedestrian street with cafés for a terrace lunch or a selection of patisseries, flower shops and several other iconic boutiques.

Stay

La Clef Louvre Apartments by Crest Collection provides Paris corporate serviced accommodation in the 1st arrondissement. With the option of studio and one-bedroom apartments, La Clef Louvre is only a 3-minute walk to the nearest metro station, Crest Collection is conveniently placed in a central location for those on a quick trip to Paris.

Our Paris guide recommendation for a stay in the 2nd arrondissement is Montorgueil Suite Apartments, which showcase modern spacious studio and one-bedroom apartments round the corner from the Bibliothèque Nationale de France, a world-famous library.

Dine

Some of the best eating spots in Paris are nestled in the 2nd arrondissement streets with a variety of French delicacies and other cuisines right on your doorstep. Aux Crus de Bourgogne offer French classics dating back to 1932 and their steak frites paired with a punchy peppercorn sauce is not one to miss. Or, if you're craving something different, check out Dalmata and its incredible Neapolitan style pizzas.

Explore

Nicknamed the ‘heart of Paris’, the 1st and 2nd arrondissements are ideal for first time visitors with the top sites right around the corner. The Louvre is a must see, home to some of the most famous art works by the likes of Picasso, Rembrandt and Leonardo da Vinci. Check out the Jardin des Tuileries with picturesque fountains, playgrounds, gardens, flowers and outdoor cafés, this is the perfect spot for a sunny day.

The 1st and 2nd arrondissements are perfect for first time visitors, with the top sites on your doorstep.

4th Arrondissements

The 4th arrondissement is another central district close by to the 1st and 2nd, situated on the right bank of the river Seine. The area hosts a variety of shops, gardens and museums as well as the Place des Vosges – dubbed the most beautiful square in Europe – which is a must-explore with rich history and idyllic landscapes.

Stay

In the 4th arrondissement you can find an abundance of suitable accommodation options. One worth mentioning in this Paris guide is Citadines Bastille Marais Apartments, which offers fantastic onsite facilities including a resident’s lounge and business centre.
